Settle Victoria Hall serves Settle, the surrounding area, and farther afield, both as as a community space and by bringing arts and culture to an isolated rural community, and there's always something going on. During the day, we have a huge range of classes and community groups, alongside auctions, bazaars, and public and private events. In the evening, our beautiful little music-hall is transformed into a venue for top-quality music, drama, comedy, spoken word, film, and festivals.
Shows and Events
At Victoria Hall, we have an incredibly busy evening schedule of over 150 events every year, ranging through comedy, dance, theatre, talks, a wide variety of music, and film. We strive to be open and accessible to all, regardless of background, age, gender, or ability, and we pride ourselves on providing arts, culture, and social events to an isolated, rural community. Last year, over 7,000 people from all over Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, and beyond came through our doors, enjoying a programme that ranged from punk-rock to Shakespeare, Bollywood jazz to Gilbert and Sullivan, stand-up comedy to folk opera, and Heavy Metal to Silent Film. To see what’s coming up, visit our what’s on page.
As well as our theatrical evening events, Victoria Hall is available for use as a community meeting space during the day. We have three meeting rooms, along with the main hall, and every day you’ll find something going on at Victoria Hall, from indoor markets to Circle Dancing, Sociology, Scrabble, or Geology. You can see our timetable of daytime events here.
Many of our daytime events are run by the Settle and District U3A- if you’re interested in joining their events, you can find out more and get in touch with them here.
Our meeting rooms and the main hall are also available for corporate and private events, ranging from conferences to weddings, parties, and public consultations. If you would like to hire a room or run an event at Victoria Hall, either regular or one-off, you can find out more and download an enquiry form here.
Stalls and Auctions
Tuesday is market-day in Settle. At Victoria Hall, we have a café every Tuesday morning, run by the Friends of Victoria Hall, selling teas, coffees, and refreshments, including wonderful home-made cakes. In addition to the café, we have community stalls, raising money for local and national good causes, selling everything from clothes to books to bric-a-brac. Why not pop in on a Tuesday morning and find yourself a bargain?
On Saturdays once a month, Friends of Victoria Hall hold an Allsorts Bazaar. As the name suggests, anything goes, and you could find anything for sale, from arts and crafts to gifts, artisan foods, and much more. Our 2019 markets will be held on;
To enquire about holding a stall on a Tuesday or Saturday, contact us. (Please note, Tuesday stalls at Victoria Hall are for community and charitable causes only. If you’re interested in running a commercial stall, our Saturday allsorts bazaars are better suited.)
We are resurrecting the Victoria Hall auctions. The auctions are held every six weeks, on a Tuesday afternoon, with valuing and drop-offs every Tuesday morning. Viewing on auction days begins at 10am, and the auction starts at 3pm. Any antiques and collectables, including named ceramics, furniture, glass, silver, automobilia, pictures and prints accepted. If you feel the need for a spring clear-out, while making a bit of cash and raising funds for Victoria Hall on the commission, then come along on a Tuesday, or call John Robinson of Blue Box Auctions on 07768 065101
Auction dates for 2019 are;
More dates to be announced soon.
On a bank holiday Monday, North West Book Fairs and Friends of Victoria Hall host a book fair, selling a wide range of rare, second-hand, and antiquarian books, maps and ephemera, plus homemade refreshments from our cafe. 10am-4pm.
Give and Take Days
A give and take day is exactly as it sounds. Bring along your unwanted clothes, bric-a-brac, furniture, and any other items, or find something you need for free. Everything is donated and free to take away (but please make sure that you don’t accidentally walk off with Victoria Hall furniture- we need it!). 10am-3pm.
