19th-century Migration in Craven

  • Settle Victoria Hall 24 Kirkgate Settle, England, BD24 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

Sarah had a career in education, being a headteacher of two large secondary schools.  Since retiring to Settle Sarah has researched of the lives of all those buried in Settle graveyard. The inhabitants of every grave, whether with a memorial stone or not, provide a great little slice of social history!  Her findings have informed a raft of local social history themes including the role of women, the development of Settle and, of course migration.   As a result of the research Sarah has written three books covering the graveyard research, the railway navvies who perished while building the Settle to Carlisle railway and those who lived in the Long Preston floodplain.  Sarah has delivered numerous talks on a variety of themes to local groups and some very popular summer churchyard trails.

Organised by Settle Area Refugee Support Group for Refugee Week 2025.

  • CABARET SEATING

Most of the shows at Victoria Hall use ‘cabaret-style’ seating. This means that your seats will be unreserved, which allows you to decide where to sit when you arrive.

The stalls (downstairs) are set up informally, with chairs around small tables, for a sociable, relaxed atmosphere, and somewhere to put your drink. Cabaret seating also allows space for dancing, which is highly encouraged at Victoria Hall!

For those who prefer a more ‘traditional’ theatre experience, the balcony seats are laid out in rows and raked, ensuring all seats have an excellent view.

For parties of six or more, tables in the stalls can be reserved- contact us to reserve a table. If you have reserved a table, we ask that at least one of your party turn up at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, in order to secure your table.

We can always reserve seating or wheelchair spaces in the stalls for those unable to use the stairs- just let us know when you book your tickets.
