WHAT WE DO

Settle Victoria Hall serves Settle, Craven, the Yorkshire Dales, and farther afield, both as as a community space and by bringing arts and culture to our isolated rural community, and there's always something going on.

During the day, we have a huge range of classes and community groups, alongside auctions, bazaars, and public and private events. In the evening, our beautiful little music hall is transformed into a venue for top-quality live music, drama, comedy, spoken word, film, and festivals.

Shows and Events

At Victoria Hall, we have an incredibly busy evening schedule of over 170 events every year, ranging through comedy, dance, theatre, talks, a wide variety of music, and film.

We strive to be open and accessible to all, regardless of background, age, gender, or ability, and we pride ourselves on providing arts, culture, and social events to an isolated, rural community.

Our programme attracts people from throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, and beyond, and ranges from punk-rock to Shakespeare, blues to Gilbert and Sullivan, stand-up comedy to folk opera, and Heavy Metal to Silent Film. To see what’s coming up, visit our what’s on page.

Community

As well as our theatrical evening events, Victoria Hall is available for use as a community meeting space during the day. We have three meeting rooms, along with the main hall, and every day you’ll find something going on at Victoria Hall, from indoor markets to Circle Dancing, Sociology, Scrabble, or Geology.

Our meeting rooms and the main hall are also available for corporate and private events, ranging from conferences to weddings, parties, and public consultations. If you would like to hire a room or run an event at Victoria Hall, either regular or one-off, you can find out more and download an enquiry form here.

Miss Victoria’s Enterprises

Miss Victoria Hall has been here for the public of Settle and its environs since 1853, with musical and theatrical entertainments, modern moving picture shows, and as a community hub and meeting place. As a grand old lady of 170, Miss Victoria requires rather a lot of upkeep, and to this end, she has taken on a number of exciting new enterprises, all raising money to keep her alive and thriving into the future.

Miss Victoria’s Emporium in Settle Market Place is a cornucopia of vintage delights and local artisan crafts, all raising money for Victoria Hall.

Miss Victoria’s Refreshment Gardens are open April- September, serving a delectable range of drinks, cakes, and light luncheons and conveniently located just behind the Music Hall.

Settle Community Response

In March 2020, Victoria Hall was temporarily repurposed into a community response hub for Settle and the surrounding area, providing practical and emotional support to vulnerable and isolated people.

Over 2000 prescriptions and 1300 bags of shopping were delivered by our amazing team of volunteers between March and September. The generosity, compassion and tireless work of the Settle community in looking after our vulnerable population has been incredible, and we are truly grateful to everyone who came forward to volunteer, donate, or just show their support for Settle Community Response.

As of 1 September 2020, we have handed over our shopping and prescription services to Age UK North Craven, as we move back towards normality. You can call Age UK on 01729 823066.
