  • Settle Victoria Hall 24 Kirkgate Settle, England, BD24 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

Come to another exciting concert of traditional Scandinavian music and dance with wonderfully talented Nordic artists.

Brought to you by Scandimoot as part of our weekend event in the Dales   <www.scandimoot.org.uk>

Stay on after the concert for more music and dance with the course participants.

Sigrid Stubsveen: a fiddler from Engerdal in eastern Norway. She was chosen as the Young Folk Musician of the Year in 2020.

The traditional music from this area is now receiving increased and well-deserved attention with Sigrid having spent countless hours with archives of old recordings.

Johanne Løkensgard Mjøs: a fiddle and hardanger fiddle player from Bergen in western Norway, she is now one of the country’s foremost traditional fiddlers.

Despite their geographical separation, Sigrid and Johanne have formed a musical partnership and recorded a CD together in 2022.

Anna-Karin Andersson: is a musician, composer and fiddle teacher, living now in Malmö, southern Sweden. She plays both fiddle and hardanger fiddle.

As a classically-trained violinist, she discovered folk music as a teenager and has a particular passion for Norwegian traditional music.

Simon Hesselberg Løvald: is a dancer, focusing on the traditional dances of Hallingdal in Norway.

He has made a name for himself in the Norwegian folk dancing community and is an elite-class dancer in the national competitions.

Solfrid Nestegard Gjeldokk: comes from a family of famous dancers within the Hallingdal folk dance community.

She is also a singer with her repertoire from Hallingdal and Telemark and recently released her debut solo album.

Åsmund Fauske Jøtun: has played hardanger fiddle from the age of nine, learning from some of the greatest fiddlers in Hallingdal.

Besides being an elite-class musician, Åsmund is also an enthusiastic dancer and leads the Gol music and dance group.

Andrew Parr trained as a dancer in Sweden and is also a talented musician.

His teaching is both thorough and inspiring and he is currently involved in running Swedish dance workshops all over England.

  • Most of our shows use ‘cabaret-style’ seating. This means that your seats will be unreserved, which allows you to decide where to sit when you arrive.

The stalls (downstairs) are set up informally, with chairs around small tables, for a sociable, relaxed atmosphere, and somewhere to put your drink. Cabaret seating also allows space for dancing, which is highly encouraged at Victoria Hall!

For those who prefer a more ‘traditional’ theatre experience, the balcony seats are laid out in rows and raked, ensuring all seats have an excellent view.

For parties of six or more, tables in the stalls can be reserved- contact us to reserve a table. If you have reserved a table, we ask that at least one of your party turn up at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, in order to secure your table.

We can always reserve seating or wheelchair spaces in the stalls for those unable to use the stairs- just let us know when you book your tickets.
