Firelight Trio is a mighty new group featuring Fatea instrumentalist of the Year 2023 Gavin Marwick (fiddle), groovily inventive accordionist/pianist Phil Alexander (Moishe's Bagel), and Ruth Morris (Outlander, HBO) on the beautiful Swedish nyckelharpa. They play European music that is evocative, inventive, wide-ranging, and endlessly exciting - a rich tapestry of lively Swedish polskas and Scottish reels, lilting French waltzes, toe-tapping klezmer, and dazzling original tunes.
'A veritable roots music supergroup' (RnR magazine).
'Deeply expressive, impressively virtuosic and cheekily sardonic, all in perfect measure' (Songlines).
'Simply splendid. Three musical giants' (RnR).
'Achingly beautiful' (Fatea).
Don't miss them!
Constant Follower is the band formed around Scottish songwriter Stephen McAll. Their debut album for legendary New York indie label Shimmy Disc was shortlisted for the 2022 Scottish Album of the Year Award (SAY) and found its way onto the top of multiple ‘Best Albums of 2021’ lists, leading to a string of notable performances including Austin’s SXSW 2022 and SXSW 2023, and a spellbinding set from the crown of Scotland’s National Wallace Monument. A triumph after tragedy, the album was McAll’s first work many years after an unprovoked attack in his late teens left him with catastrophic head injuries, partially paralysed and unable to write or play guitar. The following decade was spent recovering on the West Coast of Scotland, learning to live, and eventually picking up the guitar to allow the songs that form his acclaimed debut ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’ to emerge.
In addition to his band endeavours, in April 2023 McAll released a collaborative album with renowned folk guitarist Scott William Urquhart. This exceptional work, released on Golden Hum Recordings, garnered widespread critical acclaim and was long-listed for the 2023 SAY Award. Described as "an enchanting, deeply absorbing, and meditative album" (Folk Radio) it showcases the musical affinity and unique talents of these two Scottish songwriters and musicians. The duo has already embarked on their next project, currently in the works and scheduled for a late 2025 release.
Now, Constant Follower eagerly await the release of their much anticipated second album. Slated for 28th February 2025 on renowned Scottish label Last Night From Glasgow, the album was preceded by stand-alone 7” AA single ‘Turn Around For Me/See You Soon’ in June 2024. McAll helmed the recording and production of the album and singles, capturing the essence of their sound from his Stirling base before venturing to Austin, Texas, to collaborate with the esteemed Dan Duszynski of Loma (SubPop) for mixing and further production in March of 2024. Sequenced with the help of Shimmy Disc boss Kramer and mastered by Carl Saff, the album is a dream collaboration which builds upon the glorious Slowcore/Dream-Folk of previous releases, unveiling new dimensions of Constant Follower's sound.
Released on 28th February 2025 via Scottish label Last Night From Glasgow, The Smile You Send Out Returns To You marked a significant step forward for Constant Follower. Mixed by Dan Duszynski (Loma, Sub Pop) in Austin, Texas, the album builds on the dream-folk and slowcore textures of earlier work while opening new sonic space. It debuted at No. 2 on the Official Scottish Albums Chart, No. 3 on the Official Folk Albums Chart, and reached No. 1 on the Official Independent Breakers Chart. It also broke into the UK-wide Album Sales Chart at No. 14 - an ambitious release, warmly received.
McAll is now back in his Stirling studio, working on the third Constant Follower album alongside a close-knit group of collaborators. Continuing to evolve the project’s sound while staying rooted in the reflective, melodic core that defines it, the new work is already taking shape - quietly and purposefully - between the cracks of everyday life.

Most of our shows use ‘cabaret-style’ seating. This means that your seats will be unreserved, which allows you to decide where to sit when you arrive.
The stalls (downstairs) are set up informally, with chairs around small tables, for a sociable, relaxed atmosphere, and somewhere to put your drink. Cabaret seating also allows space for dancing, which is highly encouraged at Victoria Hall!
For those who prefer a more ‘traditional’ theatre experience, the balcony seats are laid out in rows and raked, ensuring all seats have an excellent view.
For parties of six or more, tables in the stalls can be reserved- contact us to reserve a table. If you have reserved a table, we ask that at least one of your party turn up at least 30 minutes before the performance start time, in order to secure your table.
We can always reserve seating or wheelchair spaces in the stalls for those unable to use the stairs- just let us know when you book your tickets.
Please note, online bookings are subject to a booking fee. Tickets can also be bought by phone on 01729 825718, or in person at our box office. Opening hours are 10am-2pm, Monday-Friday.
