Rural Arts: The Hotel Experience from Lila Dance

  • Settle Victoria Hall 24 Kirkgate Settle, England, BD24 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

A man checks into a hotel the night before his wedding, unaware that things may not be as they seem. As the clock ticks the walls around him seem to blur and dissolve as fragments of memories tumble into the room in the form of past lovers. They fall from the ceilings, crawl out from under the bed and step out of wardrobes to face him once more with full force and in vivid colours. The Hotel Experience becomes a night of doubt, hope, crisis, and unexpected encounters. When the sun rises, he has an important decision to make.

The Hotel Experience is brought to life through an exciting moving set, four powerful dancers, a supporting community cast, an evocative soundtrack and new writing. Lila Dance are rapidly becoming one of Britain's fastest growing dance companies, with a reputation for redefining community involvement in professional productions.

Join a professional dance show!

The Community Cast is an opportunity for you to perform alongside Lila Dance’s professional dancers in a section of The Hotel Experience

You will join the Lila cast for an uplifting Hotel party scene where all the best dance moves from across the decades come together with a contemporary twist.

As part of the Community Cast, you will have fun working alongside fellow dance enthusiasts from your local community learning a series of dance sequences.

You will perform amongst The Hotel Experience set, weaving in and out of the 3-dimensional structures, quite literally bringing the room to life!

Experience in dance is not essential for this project, just an openness to work intensively and creatively with others. The project requires full commitment to the rehearsal and performance schedule.

To take part in The Hotel Experience you will need to attend 2 intensive workshops and be able to attend both the dress rehearsal and the performance date (dress rehearsal and performance will be on the same day).

You will be able to access and learn core movement sequences through our online videos so that you can master the moves before you arrive!

To be part of the show you need to be over 12 years of age, and there are only 20 places available.
