Tim Edey

  • Settle Victoria Hall 24 Kirkgate Settle, England, BD24 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

Tim Edey (BBC Radio Two's Musician Of The Year 2012 – Radio 2 Folk Awards) multi-instrumentalist and singer, has toured the world and recorded with most of the major names in Celtic/Contemporary roots music including; The Chieftains, Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Natalie MacMaster, Altan, Capercaillie, Brendan Power, Michael McGoldrick, Seamus Begley, Dougie Maclean, The Barra MacNeills, JP Cormier, Shaun Davey, Session A9, Lunasa, Vinnie Kilduff, Mary Black, Session A9, Julie Fowlis, Frankie Gavin to name but a few…

Tim is now a name on the world stage in his own right after 17 years of very hard work and consequently is rated by many to be one of the world's finest ever melodeon and guitar players in folk and contemporary acoustic music today!

Originally from Broadstairs in Kent and of Irish descent, Tim honed his style of playing guitar by learning from his father Richard (a fine guitarist himself) and listening to the likes of Django Reinhardt, Ed Boyd and Steve Cooney. Tim's live solo shows are a stunning mix ranging through world music-inspired instrumental virtuosity and passion with a strong Celtic theme, to audience-chorus lines. Above all Tim does not deliver a dry-as-dust demonstration of virtuosity. Far from it and much, much more than that. He entertains throughout chatting informally to the audience while blowing them away with his sheer musicality in a highly entertaining night of tuneful genius.

£10

Tim Edey is brilliant - in every which way. As a guitarist he has few peers. As a box player he’s a magician. As a character he’s off the scale.
