Our beautiful Refreshment Gardens are opening Tuesday 26 April through to mid-September, for another summer of food, music, and entertainment. We serve a range of hot and cold sandwiches, delicious cakes and bakes, and drinks from our licensed bar. We also have a summer-long programme of music, theatre, and entertainment in the gardens, so whether it’s a beer festival, children’s activities, outdoor Shakespeare, or a classic rock band, there’s always something different going on.
The gardens are open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April- mid June, and Tuesday-Sunday mid June-September. We can schedule hours and shifts to suit you, but at least one weekend day is preferred. There will also be the possibility of some extra evening work for our outdoor shows.
This isn’t your average café job! Whether you’re preparing hot and cold filled rolls, serving food in our green and leafy gardens, or getting stuck in with outdoor events and shows, the work is varied, active, and a great opportunity to spend the summer outdoors, in a fun and friendly environment, with a huge variety of music and entertainment going on around you.
We’re looking for enthusiastic team-players who are happy to muck in with whatever needs doing. The gardens can be very busy on a sunny weekend, so the ability to keep on smiling in a fast-paced environment is a must. Our staff range from teens to seventy-somethings, and there’s no upper age limit, so long as you’re fit and active enough for an outdoor job with lots of walking.
You will be working for Settle Victoria Hall Ltd, a community-led registered charity established to preserve and run the world’s oldest music hall as a space for music, arts, entertainment, and community events. Everything we do, we do to keep this little venue thriving and providing a community asset for everyone, and we work under the principles of welcome and celebration of everyone, without prejudice or favour. If you have any additional access or support needs, we would love to hear from you and discuss how we can help you.
Benefits:
· Fun and friendly environment
· Paid holidays
· Uniform provided
· End-of-season bonus (depending on how well the café does this year)
· Free tickets to our shows and events (while employed here)
